  • DCBC Calls New Executive Director/Minister

    Cochran Called To Lead DCBC As Next Executive Director/Minister

    Washington, D.C., January 28, 2015—The D.C. Baptist Convention is pleased to announce that Dr. Robert Dennis Cochran has been called to serve as its next Executive Director/Minister. DCBC's Board of Directors voted to approve the Search Committee's recommendation to hire Dr. Cochran during a special called meeting that was held last week. Dr. Cochran, who currently serves as Associate Executive Director of the Convention, accepted the offer and is expected to begin his new post in February.

  • Prayers for Coptic Christians

    Dr. Robert Cochran, DCBC's Executive Director/Minister-Elect has asked that DCBC congregations and leaders pray for those affected by the horrific beheadings in Libya of Coptic Christians. He said, "Let us pray in support of the grieving families and friends of those 21 Coptic Christians who apparently were killed in Libya last week due to religious persecution there. Let us pray further that God will bring the day when the entire population of the earth treasures religious liberty and grants it to every person. Religious Liberty is a long-held value of the Baptists of the DC Baptist Convention." Amen.

  • Responding to the Call Discernment Process & Interactive Session

    You are cordially invited to "Responding to the Call," an interactive session with Karen Smith, American Baptist International Ministries' missionary to Thailand, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 2 at University Baptist Church, 3515 Campus Drive, College Park, Md. 20740. The session will explore questions such as: how should IM respond to God's call to be "a light to the nations" so that salvation may reach the ends of the earth; what does IM look like when it's at its best; what should IM continue doing; and, what new things is God calling IM to do in the future?
